Are you wanting to feel better and get more active? Our friendly team can help you. We have a range of workshops, walks and talks to get you started, just pick what will work for you, with no pressure from us. Why not just give it a go? Who can join?

The Healthy Lifestyles programme is open to adults (16 +) registered with a Plymouth GP who want to feel healthier and make positive lifestyle changes.

We cannot prescribe weight‑loss injections or medicines. If you are using them, we can still support you to build long‑term healthy habits.

If you have a disability that would stop you from attending a walk, you may like to join us back at the venue for the talk. You can also attend our workshops and drop-in sessions. We can discuss other options if needed.

what does the programme offer?

Walk and Talk Sessions

There are 4 walk and talk sessions at different venues across the week, with 2 of these in the evening, great for those who prefer an evening. You don’t have to commit to the same session, just book which one suits you and when. These sessions include a gentle walk in the local area, followed by a warm drink and a friendly chat, an opportunity to socialise and celebrate your progress with others. 

We also have other walks available (with no talks attached) and these might suit you better.  You can find these by looking at our ‘Get Active’ page

What will the talk be about?

Often people want to know how they can overcome some of the barriers they face or build a better routine. Maybe you just need some motivation. All of this will be covered in our sessions, as well as topics around stress, good sleep and eating well. You can gather the knowledge you need to achieve your goals.

You may just want to attend the talk if you are unable to walk with us. You can let us know this during the booking process and would need to arrive an hour later than the start time for this session.

what are the workshop topics?

Mindful Eating

A 90‑minute session about how we eat, not just what we eat. We explore how mindful eating can help you notice habits and triggers that lead to overeating.

In this session, we will:

  • Learn the steps of the mindful eating cycle
  • Talk about common triggers for overeating
  • Try simple tools to help you pause and feel more in control

Practical Planning and Preparation

A 90‑minute session to help you plan healthy, balanced meals in a simple, realistic way.

In this session, we will:

  • Explore what makes a healthy, doable meal plan
  • Share ideas to save time and reduce stress
  • Talk about common challenges like busy routines or tight budgets
  • Start building a plan you can use at home

what other sessions do you have?

We also have drop-in sessions around the city where you can talk to one of our friendly team about any lifestyle changes you wish to make or ask any questions. At our Know Your Measurements session, we use Tanita scales to provide you with your body’s important numbers, including visceral fat (that’s the fat we can’t see inside our bodies). Reducing this has a positive impact on our long-term health. Knowing your number may help you set some goals.
